I’m delighted to offer a small-batch of very special, one-of-a-kind Mending Tool Kits complete with some of my favorite mending tools and materials. These pouches are a heartfelt batch designed with vintage quilt squares, tenderly made into zipper bags. These are created with beautiful textiles: Hand-pieced vintage quilt squares from a precious "cutter quilt"; gorgeous quality striped denim, and selvedge denim fabric for the pouch bottom. Each pouch is fully lined with new organic cotton fabric and closes with a fabric/ metal zipper made in the USA. Tools are thoughtfully-sourced, and whenever possible are low-waste, low-plastic, and biodegradable. These patchwork pouches were lovingly made to showcase incredible antique textiles and beautiful, quality notions.
Please Note: The vintage quilt squares were hand-stitched and show charming signs of love and human imperfection like exposed stitches, mismatched fabrics, and some light wear on the antique textile--these are meant to highlight the handcraft and not seen as production imperfections; each pouch has passed our high-standard for quality control and we hope you'll cherish these vintage quilt squares for their depth, beauty, and life well-lived.
Each pouch contains:
-An original, one-of-a-kind, finished patchwork zipper pouch that measures approximately 9x9″.
-Four skeins of 100% cotton Sashiko thread (white, light blue, medium blue, and dark blue), my favorite thread for mending denim.
-Two sturdy, metal Sashiko needles, pair beautifully with thick Sashiko thread.
-A beautiful metal thimble, made in Italy.
-A custom 5x8" notebook made in the USA with recycled papers.
-A custom (biodegradable) wooden ruler made in the USA.
-A wooden fabric pencil (as low-waste packaging as possible).
-A color postcard from Make Thrift Mend.
These pouches were designed by me and sewn locally by my studio assistant here in the Hudson Valley of Upstate NY. Each pouch is unique but offers a sample of beloved fabrics carefully arranged to make a beautiful case for mending tools.
