I’m thrilled to offer a small batch of Darning Tool Kits made locally in the Hudson Valley of NY. These kits were lovingly designed to highlight local materials, local farms, and local artists' labor while resulting in a beautiful, yet practical, mending kit.

Each kit contains three small skeins of New York State wool grown on NY farms and milled at a local fiber mill. The skeins result in fingering weight yarns perfect for darning sweaters, socks, gloves, hats, or other knitwear. One 2-ply (long wool blend) yarn is left un-dyed and is naturally white ; another 3-ply Corriedale yarn was dyed with flowering quince branches from my backyard resulting in a light, warm, peach; the third yarn is a 3-ply Corriedale yarn dyed with marigold flowers resulting in a bright, bold, yellow. All yarns are 100% local wool. Each skein is approx. 20-25 grams of yarn.

Each kit also includes one handmade wooden darning egg made by my husband using local wood, these are truly one-of-a-kind beautiful mending tools. Lastly, each kit contains one needle book designed by me and sewn by my studio assistant in the Hudson Valley using lovely patchwork cotton fabrics, one handmade wooden button, and the book pages are local felt. Each needle book contains three metal darning needles. Books measure approx. 4" x 4" when folded.

PLEASE NOTE: Hand-dyed yarns might have some slight variation in color or texture within the skein, this is not an imperfection but an indication of the uniqueness and handwork that went into dyeing this yarn. There’s also some variation in the needle book fabrics as they were designed around various blue and white cottons, although each one is beautifully-made and contains three darning needles.

*A portion of the sales from the Darning Tool Kits will be donated to a BIPOC- centered, eco-justice organization in the Hudson Valley that has asked to remain anonymous. Thank you for contributing to this donation through the purchase of this kit.
