Scarlet Wool Shawl: Plant-Dyed, Merino Wool

There's something so special about oversized shawls, natural fibers, and plant-based dyes so bringing these loves together in this design feels like alchemy.

Winter is a time to draw our strength deep into our bodies, warm by the fireside with a hot beverage, and wrap our shoulders in the softest, coziest things. The plants put their energy into their roots for the winter season and they remind us to do the same: turn inwards, reflect, and rest. This dreamy winter shawl is dyed with madder root creating a gorgeous, grounding, warm shade of red to drape around your collarbones. The color is wonderfully-complex, somewhere between burgundy, wine, and currant. May you be calm, centered, and rooted in kindness. Also, may you radiate warmth.

DETAILS:
A soft wool shawl that is twill woven using 100% fine merino wool. It is both warm and lightweight. The raw fringe gives a clean finish to the shawl. It measures approximately 71cm x 200cm (28” x 78”). Designed by Katrina Rodabaugh and dyed by Kathy Hattori and her team at Botanical Colors. This scarf is part of a limited-edition, plant-dyed collection that can never be replicated, truly small-batch, sustainable design.

DYE NOTES:
Plant-dyes are rich, complex, natural colors that might contain some variation on the dyed fiber. These variations are indications of the hand of the dyer, the complexity of the plant color, and the uniqueness of small-batch design. These shawls meet our high-standards for quality, but I hope you'll revel in these artful characteristics, if discovered.
